| In late 2007 stage6, which at the time had no significant revenues, went into financial trouble. While stage6 was enormously big popularity wise, so was their bandwidth bill, estimated to above one million usd per month. The destiny of stage6.com was now in hands of the Divx board of directors which, after a lot of internal quarrelling, decided to shut down stage6. This event has been described by many industry professionals as the "biggest f-ckup in internet history".
Needless to say the many visitors and fans of stage6 were those to suffer, and almost instantly numerous stage6 alternatives popped up in various places. Good alternatives were veoh and megavideo, though they didnt offer the same crips divx quality as stage6 and indeed didn´t offer free movie downloads. Almost a year after the demise of stage6, stage 66 was launched. Our mission is to, although with significantly lesser financial resources, offer the same online movie downloads as stage6 site did.
The mission and promise of the new stage66 movie site is as follows:
- Stage66 should offer the best possible Divx Quality movies
- In case the format is not divx, stage66 should offer the best attainable alternative.
- 66Stage should be a viable and strong stage6 alternative
- Offer the latest full length new movie downloads
- Offer reviews, ratings and preview material of new and unreleased movies
- Be a hotspot for free movie downloads and cater to general internet surfer
- Stage66 should be updated daily
- Stage66 should remain completely FREE
- 66Stage should be in the forfront of technology, and always offer the best attainable full length movies to its visitors.
Important notes:
Stage 66 is by no means affiliated by the previous stage6 site and make no claims thereof. 66Stage was solely created to fill the gap when stage6, unfortunately, went offline. Stage6 has, though significantly different from the original, resurrected with a new online movie approach. Stage66 is looking forward to the new site and hope that it will eventually be able to offer what the old stage6.com did.
